There is a William Murphy Loudermilk born October 27th 1847 to Daniel and Sarah? in Cherokee County, and another William M Loudermilk, a cousin born April 1834. he deserted the 39th NC Infantry in 1863. Just to make things confusing William Murphy had four different birthdates in four different censuses including 1850 and 1847/1848.
