I realize that many soldiers picked up new weapons on the battlefield. However, if that is the case with this one, my question is how interchangable were the parts? My collection includes an appropriate bayonet with a seven rivet scabbord and the cleaning attachment that screws onto the end of the ram rod. Unless such parts were interchangable, it seems unlikely they would have been picked up along with the rifle.
