A good stock man could fix that crack so you can't see it and you would still have the original gun intact. Make sure you look at some of his work. Orignial stocks are hard to find and then may require some hand fitting. Do a Goggle search or get a copy of Fladerman's guide to antique arms. That should have some information on numbers produced.
