From what sketchy details as I've found, A&E Holler were a couple of brothers from a famous Solingen family that specialized in swords. They had a time period of about 1840 to 1880, and then were readsorbed into the family business of F&W Holler. They are pretty well known as manufacturers for the German/Prussian empire, and a lot of WW1 and WW2 officers swords were made by them.

If your blade has a heavy steel handle and handguard, then its the same series as mine, imported into the US to be used as a heavy calvary blade. It reminds me of a Navy cutlass with a slight rise to the blade, and a bit of a groove down the top sides of the blade. Mine is painted black on the handle, and is very plain - unusual in a sword for the Union Army of CW period.

Haven't been able to get any provinance or value on the blade, and have only seen one other example, and that one had been polished and had a new sheath. The original sheath that mine has brass top and bottom, and black leather inbetween, with a single frog button on the top. In theory, they're fairly rare, and there isn't a whole lot of detail that I could find on the web, or at a pretty well stocked library (University of Arizona, Tucson). Best of luck, and if anyone has any corrections, please feel free to update me, as I would love to have the accurate detail
