Joe,

The Pettingill Revolver was manufactured by the firm of Rogers & Spencer. A double action only .44 caliber piece with a concealed hammer, this weapon was an ungainly item. The double action was extremely heavy requiring a lot of pressure to fire the piece. It was also expensive to make and was unacceptable to the Army inspectors. A few made their way into the field on both sides, but were eventually discarded for more efficient weaponry.
