Right you are Chief. In my posssession is an original Starr. Horrible trigger pull! I also have a new reproduction of the 1858 Starr DA. Trigger pull on it is very heavy and the piece, like the Pettingill, is a DA only. The repro I have, developed a weak mainspring after firing a few dozen times and I must wonder if the originals suffered from the same flaw. The hammer fall is not strong enough to fire the weapon. A potentially fatal situation if used in combat.I have submitted a complaint to the mnufacturer and learned from other owners that their Starr reproductions have the same problem. I guess there's just no substitute for the quality of a Colt or Remington.
