Kepis

I've recently received a photo of a Confederate soldier, Co. B, 43rd Tennessee, CSA in which the only item of uniform was a Kepi, adorned on the top with a 'B,', '43,' 'TV,' and a star, all in a vertical pattern.

Also, he was holding a Colt Naval Revolver which I would believe to be a studio prop. This company was raised in Sulphur Springs, Tenn., later Rhea Springs, now underwater in the backwater of Watts Bar Dam two mile out from Spring City.

I have never seen a CW era Kepi with unit ID on it. Can anyone tell me if this was a usual practice and, perhaps, lead me to where I could find similiar photo examples.

I would suspect that his Kepi may have also been a studio prop.
