Pvt. George Peck ("How Pvt. George W. Peck Put Down the Rebellion") gwined a cavalry unit and given armor to wear by his comrades. They were routed and he felt the "bullets" bouncing off his backplate. He later learned that there were no rebels, his comrades feigned a retreat and pelted him with rocks and he fled.
