For your information, an endowment of $100 was provided to the Fairview Cemetery by Nellie (Presnell) Bloomer, Sam's second wife, for the purpose of keeping the flag flying annually. This endowment was created in 1917 following Sam's death.

This is chronicled in a 1972 story in the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
