Gentlemen,
The informantion is correcet. They were rifled at a later date.I did not know how many.the Palmetto musket was ,excat copy of this musket.However it had brass furniture and dated 1852 with South Carolina markings. this is from the Conferate Arms by Albaugh and Simmons.There is another book out written by two gentlemen in the Carolinais. The title Is Confederate Long arms and Hanhguns. It has real good picture of the weapons.You might be able to find this at Dixie gunworks.I am petty it is out of print.it covers CS manufactured and secondary arms of the Confederacy
