A little more information.There are no bands on the barrel & stock, but there are what appears to be nail holes at each place where the ram holders are. After taking a closer look, it appears the barrel may have been cut off, which could explain why the stock is even with the end of the barrel and why the 40" barrel. I am not an expert on any rifle or shotgun, but I am sure this gun is worthless as a collectors item. It actually belongs to my daughter in law, who got it from family members telling her it was a gun used by an ancestor during the civil war. She brought it to me to try to help her identify it, but so far I have had no luck. I cannot find anything close to it on the internet. Also it could be post war, or even pre-war, I am lost. Again if anyone has any idea please let me know, or I will be glad to take some pictures of it and send them to anyone who might be able to help. Thanks, Tom
