Marc dumb question regarding the LWR markings
we have a gun in the family that I am 95% sure is a Potsdam Musket...but was built or converted at Neisse(1837)...one of 5 or 6 factories that did conversions

I have some questions
1) is there a way to tell if it was converted from flintlock to percussion?
a) I read somewhere that Prussia started mass conversion from 1839 but that it could have been done as early as 1831

2) re the LWR markings
on the walnut buttstock are the inscriptions 1 B 10 LWR and under that is #165 and a stamp of FW with a crown over it (King Frederick Wilhem III of Prussia?)
are those markings 1b10lwr mean 1st battallion (usually Bn)10th LWR (regiment) ? with a 165 under it? would that be Civil war Infantry markings or markings that existed before the gun came here to the US?...excuse my lack of knowledge of military history/regiments

3) there also are some random markings all over buttstock like 2 initials (maybe inspectors? intials?)

thanks for your help
Howard
