Gentlemen,

I have a letter from a New Orleans militiaman, in which he describes his company (in 1861) as being armed with six-shot revolving rifles and saber bayonets. Does anyone know of any documentation as to the delivery of Colt M1855 revolver rifles to Louisiana before the outbreak of hostilities? Who purchased them, when and in what numbers?
