I'm in the process of researching a possible book on the history of the 17th Louisiana Infantry. I've been unable to locate either the regimental colors, or flags of any of the ten companies. The regiment surrendered at Vicksburg, and I have contacted the Confederate museums in Richmond and New Orleans, the Louisiana state archives, and even the Illinois state archives (since an Illinois officer signed the parole forms for the men of the Seventeenth).

Prior to his death, I corresponded with Howard Madeus, who provided me with a description of the twelve (six-pointed) starred flags presented to each of Bragg's regiments prior to Shiloh. I have no descriptions whatsoever of any of the company flags (if they even existed), but would be most happy to receive any information or guidance.
