The Civil War Flags Message Board

Re: 17th Louisiana Regimental & Company Flags

Hi George,

Ken Legendre is THE expert on Louisiana flags but I am not sure if he is going to be on this board any longer.

I do have a period newspaper presentation for the flag of Co. B. the Sabine Rebels. It was a First National and was presented in early September, 1861 according to the article in the Alexandria Democrat. This flag was saved and brought home but where it is today we don;t know.

The flag Howie was talking to you about was what we call a Bragg pattern flag - 12 stars, each with 6 points and made in New Orleans by Henry Cassidy. Where it is today I have no clue.

Email me at Biggsg@charter.net and I will get you Ken's email.
