The Army gives out so many medals for some operations it insane sometimes. I remember my small unit went to Bosnia back in 1992, we stayed a year, mostly policing cities. Our orders were to avoid any conflicts, but if fired on fire back. The main cities and small cities were not bad, but in the woods was were the action was. We all were awarded something like eight or nine medals and ribbons. I had so much stuff, that because I look young, I would get stopped all time time. People would ask me, where did you get that and etc. I just carried a copy of my DD214 on me and just pulled that out, instead of going through the whole story.
Medals and ribbons are for show, I don't judge a soldier for how many he/she has. My commander was pretty sneaky, at the end of the month him and I would fly from Southern Hungary to Bosnia. That way we collected combat pay on the 30th/31st and on the first of the month. Combat pay back then for the month was 150 bucks, so we made 300 bucks by doing nothing. What a waste to the American tax payers.
Keep up the hard work Charles!
Have a good morning!
