Re: Two captured flags at Chancellorsville

The 11th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment (National Flag) was captured by the 17th Virginia infantry regiment at the 2nd Manassas battle. Private Coleman captured the flag. The 17th Virginia captured five flags, only this one is popularly known.

This is not to be confused with the 11th Pennsylvania reserve regiment.

Possibles, McLean's Ohio Brigade. 55th Ohio, 73rd Ohio, 75th Ohio and 25th Ohio.
Tower's Brigade, 26th NY, 94th NY, 88th PA and 90th PA.
Stiles' brigade, 12th Mass, 13th Mass, 83rd NY and 11th PA.

Not many books have been written on Second Manassas, it was squeezed between the Seven Days battles and Sharpsburg.

But this battle certainly had many Union colors captured.

Have a good day, Charles
