Wow, thanks, Greg. I am surprised to find out that one of these flags was still in service as late as Gettysburg. I was under the impression that Lee's army had re-equipped with "second" and "third buntings" prior to their movement north and that most, if not all, of the silk and cotton flags had been withdrawn from service. Learn something new every day, I guess.
I see from the MOC database that they are in possession of a large number of the first and second issue silk flags. The Arkansas Old State House Museum held a second issue silk that belonged to an "unknown" ANV unit. I understand that this flag was sent to Georgia. Did anyone ever connect it to a regiment?
