This seems to be a hybrid issue between the ANV 3rd Buntings and the ANV 4th Buntings although the stars of the latter are 5 inches across.

I was going to mention that VA flag in the Time-Life book but Ben did so already.

This is definitely NOT a Charleston Depot made flag - it has all of the characteristics of a Richmond Depot flag with the three pieces of red bunting being very evident in the photo.

We have the records for flags from that depot for 1862; none of the others can be found sadly. That body of knowledge is a huge hole to fill.
