You can probably bet safely that the 47th VA got a new flag after the Weldon RR. With the Richmond Depot being right up the road, literally, and the fact that the 6th and 7th Bunting issues had not yet come out, I would think they did get a new flag.

Part of the problem with Saylor's Creek is that most of the flags taken seem not to have been marked with any unit ID at all. Most ANV flags were unmarked. I guesstimate that some 30 flags alone were lost on April 2nd, 1865 at Hatcher's Run when the 2nd and 6th Union Corps broke through the lines.

The flag of the 18th GA Btn, Savannah Volunteer Guards, is in private hands today in Savannah, GA. The owner died a few years ago and presumably his widow still holds the flag. It resembles the unique flag of the 5th Georgia Cavalry at the Atlanta History Center.
