Re: N.Y.S.V Flag captured, impossible?

When BG. Colquitt came to Richmond, he brought the 47th Ga, 55th Ga, 56th Ga and 12th Ga Artillery Battalion were all sent to Virginia. The 12th Ga Artillery Battalion was assigned to Evan's Brigade, Gordan's Division, Ewell's Corps. The other three regiments were not in the ANV.

Sander's AL Brigade, Weisiger's Va brigade and Wright's Ga brigade made the attack on June 22nd, 1864, none of them had the 47th Ga with them.

It is very difficult to figure out each Union regiment's losses, because in the Official Records they embrace June 15th-June 30th, 1864 and counted Grant's first offensive, Jerusalem Plank Road, Deep Bottom/Darbytown Road.

In the Official Records (40) Part 1, Page 387. (Report From Captain Breitenbach) (106th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment)

"Seeing that my small regiment could effect nothing under such circumstances, and no support at hand, I ordered the men to fall
back. It was too late. Before this order could be obeyed nearly the whole regiment, still in the trenched and firing, were captured with the colors in the hands of the color-sergeant".

Have a good day,
