Re: N.Y.S.V Flag captured, impossible?

I am still curious of some strange Confederate regiment numbered "47". MG. Mahone's division was MG. Anderson's old division and there is no "47th" in any brigade in the division.

BG. Sander's Brigade: 8-9-10-11-14 (All Alabama)
BG. Weisiger's Brigade: 6-12-16-41-61 (All Virginia)
BG. Wright/Colonel Evan's Brigade: 3-22-48-64-2nd Battalion-10th Battalion (All Georgia)
BG. Harris's Brigade: 12-16-19-48 (All Mississippi)
BG. Perry's 2-5-8 (Florida)

Maybe they meant the 48th Mississippi?? That is excellent news on the 106th PA, I shall take them off the list. There are several battles that do not have regimental detail and I have to read the Official Records, Regimental Histories, Brigade Histories, Division etc. I do have excellent maps on Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, 1st Bull Run, 2nd Bull Run, Antietam, Gettysburg, etc.

I have been working on putting a detailed map on Confederate regiments at Vicksburg. There is just more attention given to the Eastern Battles then the Western Battles.

Have a great weekend,
