I can tell you this, the 7th LA lost their flag at the battle of Port Republic, under Colonel Harry T. Hays. Hays as we know would be the brigade commander for a long time.

The 7th LA, had around 300 men in the regiment. With the 5th Va on the 7th LA left and 27th Va on their right, all three regiments numbered around 1,000 men. Colonel Hays was wounded and the 29th Ohio captured the 7th LA's flag. The 7th LA lost 156 men, or half of the regiment. The Regimental flag was captured, as the Color-Bearer was captured.

My source on the 7th LA flag captured is: Peter Cozzen's "Stonewall Jackson's Valley Campaign". Shenandoah 1862. (2008) Page 487.

I just track down Union captured flags and Union artillery captured. I do know the 7th LA did capture flags before the battle of 1st Winchester, but they are still unknown to me. The 7th LA has a very proud history.

Have a good day,

Shawn Prouty
