Flags captured after Nashville, Tenn battle

I am reading the book "In the Lion's Mouth" "Hood's Tragic Retreat from Nashville, 1864, by Derek Smith.

On page 111: "BG Knipe's Union Cavalry Division" attacked and lost one cavalry guidon". An hour later, BG. Hatch attacked again and lost several more cavalry guidons."

The 19th Pennsylvania Cavalry regiment and 10th Indiana Cavalry regiments lost 22 Killed/Wounded and 63 captured. Those two cavalry regiments lost the guidons.

In turn, BG. Knipe's cavalry division "Captured 100 men from BG. Gibson's LA brigade". (Page 112) "Colonel Samuel E. Hunter of the 4th Louisiana, a number of his men, and a large portion of the 30th Louisiana were captured. BG Hatch's men captured the flags from both the 4th LA and 30th LA."

That was a HUGE help on figuring out what Union cavalry regiments lost many guidons after the battle of Nashville, (In the Official Recrods). Well, Mr. Smith did a excellent job!

Mr. Smith's sources were: Page 308, number 11 (Endnote) "Confederate Veteran 18, no.7 (July 1910): 327 and OR, part 1, 699.

Union Order of Battle:

7th Division (Cavalry), BG. Joseph F. Knipe

1st Brigade: BG. Hammond
9th Indiana cav, 10th Indiana cav, 19th Pa cav, 2nd Tenn cav and 4th Tenn cav.

2nd Brigade: Colonel, Gilbert M.L. Johnson
12th Indiana cav, 13th Indiana cav and 6th Tenn cav

With several Tennessee Cavalry regiments in the division, might be a slight chance, they lost a guidon???

Have a good day,
