The North & South magazine articles are all footnoted so I would check into the sources that Rollins used for that article and see what they say. He did not make up stuff nor was he flippant in his research. If he wrote something for that article it was the sources he used that he drew his conclusions as any good historian does. Sometimes the sources are wrong too.
