1938 Article About Mississippi Civil War Flag

I found this article recently, and thought the forum might be interested - I can't find any "Colonel Pink Cagle" that served from Mississippi, but I did locate a Private James Pinkney Cagle that served in Company D, 11th Mississippi Cavalry (Perrin's) Company D of the 11th was from Winston County, so that matches, and the "Colonel" for Cagle may be a UCV rank, but the 11th Mississippi Cavalry history does not match very well with the history of the flag as stated in the article:

"Fight - Worn Flag

Among the many interesting historical relics displayed in the courthouse at Poplarville recently by Mrs. F.E. Shivers, Pearl River WPA historical research worker, was the battle scarred Confederate flag, once borne by Col. Pink Cagle's regiment during the Civil War. The old relic is the property of Mrs. John Campbell of Poplarville, a daughter of Colonel Cagle. The flag was presented to Colonel Cagle's regiment by the ladies of Winston County in 1861, and was under fire at the Battle of Shiloh. It was borne above the clouds on Lookout Mountain near the close of the war, but was never captured. Colonel Cagle and his staff pledged the ladies at Louisville that they would return with the flag or with it wrapped around their dead bodies. The old flag, after being carried throughout the war, was brought home in safety. Miss Susie V. Powell, Jackson, is state director of the research project."
