As to your second question, I am guessing you mean a Confederate flag that was "captured back." The 97th Ohio did lose its flag to Lt. James Tillman and a small band of 24th South Carolina boys. But I think your question relates to Sgt. Alfred Ransbottom of the 97th Ohio, who at some point vaulted the works and grabbed the flag of the 2nd/6th Missouri.
