Does anyone have any info on Capt. Oliver Mercer of the 29th NC. He was killed at Gettysburg in Forneys field. Shot in the head. I understand that Col Wheelock of the 97th NY was taughting an officer of the 20th with the captured flag of the 20th when this officer was shot in the head Does anyone know what company that officer was with? How many capt. were shot in the head that day? Does anyone know? Also I understand that Gettysburg has some personal effects of some soldiers in storage boxes. Any info on this?
