The Civil War Flags Message Board

Re: 154th New York's flags at Gettysburg

I have been into the Civil War since I was 5 or 6 years old. I admit it got a bit old on "Gettysburg" and the big battles. Then I took in interest in Civil War "Captured Flags". The thing I like the best about this subject is some are known and many are not.

I just get kicks on finding a new captured flag. I want all of the work that has been done by my co-workers, my family and myself to join in all the work everyone on here has done. All of us have stayed up late, spent many weekends travelling and seeking unknown captured flags. If you think about it, if we were not here doing this, who would? Without Mr. Maddus, where would any North American flags be at? When he passed on recently that was a huge blow. Now the next generation steps up people like Greg Biggs who worked with Mr. Maddus and I know he will carry on this subject for a long time. I dont know to many people that are even interested in what we do.

I thank and apprecitate all the hard work every single one of you has done on this subject. I hope Greg Biggs and others on here come out with more books on this subject.

Again, thank you all for the hard work!
