I got a question for everyone, the 21st Wisconsin lost a flag at Chickamauga and the War Department claimed the "1st Mississippi" captured it. The 1st Mississippi was not at Chickamauga. I read that Humphrey (Barksdale's old brigade) had captured a flag from the 21st Wisconsin.
Wheeler's men captured the 6th Kentucky (USA) Cav--Guidon.
The 30th Indiana lost their regimental flag at Chickamauga to a Lt.Meade of Polk's Corps "Sharpshooters". I looked up the last name in the National Archives soldier/sailor site and they had Confederate "Meade's" but none that matched up with that unit.
Does anyone know anymore on a LT.Meade in a sharpshooter unit in Polk's Corps at Chickamauga?
