Union flags captured at Chickamauga

I have found alot of Union flags captured at Chickamauga, Peter Cozzen's book "This Terrible Sound" mentions many Union flags captured. I will have full list when I get back from "Vacation", which really gives me time to get more work on captured Union flag's at Chickamauga.

I still believe for Bragg's Army and well any Confederate army west of the Appalachian mountains, this was the most Union flags captured in a major battle.

Wheeler alone reported 18 captured. (6th Kentucky, USA-Guidon and the 89th Ohio's National flag)

Humphrey's Brigade----5 (21st Wisconsin lost a flag to the 21st Mississippi)

Hindman's Division took "5-6" flags (regiments under were in Hindman's Division) they also took 28 cannons alone in Hindman's division. 17 flat out and 10 more "hidden".
44th Mississippi took 2
10th Mississippi "several flags"

Smith's brigade of Cheatham's Division (47th Tn) took the 77th Pennsylvania's flag. The 78th Pennsylvania also lost a flag.

Liddell's Division took "several flags"

The 22nd Alabama took a stand of colors, but in turn lost their flag to the 121st Ohio.

The 26th/50th Alabama took the 6th Ohio Battery flag.

Deshler's brigade took the 79th Illinois and 79th Pennsylvania's flag. The 18th Texas cav (dismounted) captured the 79th Illinois--National flag and a Star flag.

McNair's brigade took 2 flags:
Col Buell had his headquarters flag captured.
8th Kansas flag.

The 2nd Missouri (USA) Col Laibolt's brigade, lost both of their flags. CSA unit that captured them?

The 30th Indiana lost their regimental flag captured by Lt. Meade of Polk's Corps in a sharpshooter unit.
Huggin's CSA battery shot down a flag of the 30th Indian 30 yards in front of the battery. I dont know if this is the same flag captured by Lt. Meade.

King's regulars had to have lost a flag, I believe the 16th US infantry did.

Trigg's brigade took 5 flags.
54th Va took the 89th Ohio's Regimental flag.
54th Va took the 22nd Michigan's Regimental flag
54th Va took the 22nd Michigan's National flag.
54th Va took the 21st Ohio's National flag.
7th Florida took the 21st Ohio's Regimental flag.

Breckinridge's Division took 2 flags.

Other Union regiments I think lost a flag,

Towards the end of the fighting, Scribner's brigade lost a lot of men captured pulling out.
33rd Ohio--(78 captured)
10th Wisconsin--(143 captured)
2nd Ohio (124 captured)

I believe the 36th Ohio lost both of their flags. Page 494 in Peter Cozzen's book "This Terrible Sound" mentions that "The entire color company was missing, along with both the regimental colors"

I believe a lot of Union Artillery flags were captured, with nearly 51 Union artillery pieces captured...

If anyone has any information on Union flags captured at Chickamauga, please let me know. I still feel there are more Union flags that were captured.

There are close to 50 flags I have found already. Imagine what I haven't found yet...

Thank you for any help!

Have a great weekend,

Shawn Prouty
