According to General C. McKeever, Quartermaster General of the U.S. Army, 1887. General Sherman used a National Colors with 36 stars as a HQ flag, along with the National Colors there was a yellow or gold color 40 Rounds flag similar to those of the 15th Corps flags. Lettering and logo in red, Headquarters Military Division of the Mississippi. http://www.piedmontflag.com/Corps/Command-1.jpg These flags identified the General’s HQ from Chattanooga to the end of the war.
