27th MS Flag

All:

Our newest Camp in the MS Division, SCV, is being named in honor of one of the companies ("Twiggs Rifles") of the 27th MS Infantry.

They have asked me if I could please find out what type battleflag(s) the 27th MS carried.

Since they 27th was in the AOT, I am assuming that, at some point at least, they carried a standard AOT/Johnston battleflag, though they surely carried other patterns (includingly possibly unique patterns) as well.

I understand that one flag of the 27th MS (or, at least, one of its constituent companies) is somewhere in a private collection, but that no photo of same has been released to the public. (I don't know how reliable this information is.)

If anyone can just tell me what type(s) of battleflag(s) the 27th MS carried, I would be please to pass that info along to our new SCV Camp so that they can have a replica flag made for their various ceremonies and memorial services.

Of course, anyone wanting to send me a legal scan or pic of one of the 27th MS's flags would really make both me and the guys in the new Camp really happy! -- Jim Huffman, Gainesville Vols, SCV Camp 373, Pearl River County, MS, huffman1234@bellsouth.net
