I know of only one 'company' flag that was carried into battle. When Wheat's Battalion was formed and was in Virginia, lots were drawn amongst the 5 companies, to see which flag was to be used as the Battalion Flag at the upcoming Battle of First Manassas. The lucky winner was the Delta Rangers. This same flag carried Major Wheat from the battle. It can be seen at Memorial Hall in New Orleans.
