It was a beautiful day. Last night about midnight we were alarmed by firing on the picket line and at Bartlett's headquarters, which is near by. Each regiment immediately fell in with loaded muskets, but the "dash" had been made; the brigade flag captured, and the rebels gone. ... A scouting party was sent out early this morning and came back tonight, ...They also found a part of the staff from which the brigade flag had been torn. ...
