I think the 59th New York had to have lost a flag at Sharpsburg, they were hit on the left flank, rear and front.

OR 21, Page 18. "White's Cavalry" "35th VA Cav battalion" "Colors Captured". Also the 3rd Va cav-7th Va Cav and 12th Va Cav were at that small battle and somebody lost "2 Colors" has reported by the Union troops. Not sure who lost flags.
OR 20, page 155. "General Morgan captured 4 officers and 93 enlisted men (91st Illinois) at "Bacon Creek". Also at "Nolin" General Morgan captured "3 officers and 73 enlisted men (also from the 91st Illinois) for a total of 7 officers and 166 men captured on two seperate attacks. All from the 91st Illinois.
OR 19, page 303. "5th Florida Inf lost their flag at Sharpsburg." Small tiny regiment captured.
OR 18, page 671. "Battle Flag of the 7th Confederate (Claiborne) cavalry, lost a flag at Little Washington, on 18 April, 1863 to the 3rd New York cavalry."
OR 17, page 77. "3rd Michigan cavalry captured a Rebel Flag at Iuka, during the retreat of the CSA army."

Interesting, one of the CSA flags captured was reported to a "Louisiana" flag. The only "Louisiana" regiment at that battle was the 3rd Louisiana.
OR 17, page 527. "Somerville, Tenn--Nove 26th, 1862 "skirmish". Lt. Col Prince, 7th Illinois cavalry regiment captured "2 Colors". "The 4th battalion, Richardson's Regiment--100 strong. Now they claim "1 from Rebel Battalion engaged.
