Re: 8th LA flag - WD 14 - more

Ben and Mike,

This white edging technique is evident on two known flags for the Georgia Reserves and a recently uncovered flag of the same style probably for the 19th South Carolina. These were made, it seems, by ladies working for the Macon Depot. Macon expert Robert Davis found some payroll vouchers for that depot at the Naitonal Archives for flags under the names of several ladies who made them.

The 19th SC got their flag as they passed through Macon to get to North Carolina after the Tennessee Campaign. It came to a small museum in East Tennessee from the family of a 19th SC soldier.

As for the Second national that Howie said connected with the Louisiana Guard Artillery, I do not have Howie's notes for that other than the email I have cited. Ken might have them since he is Mr. Louisiana flags from Howie. Nor do I have his scale drawing.

Ken and I try to share most files with each other as a back-up to each other but he and I have not worked our Lousiana or Virginia files yet. Ken will not be back home for another week at least.
