William T. McNeese is listed as present at Gettysburg as a Second Sergeant in Company I of the 2nd Florida. Incidentally, the infamous Private Lewis J. Powell in the same company was wounded on 2 July and captured. Powell, later known as Lewis Payne, was one of the Lincoln co-conspirators who came close to killing William Seward on the night Lincoln was shot by Booth.
