My great grandfather, John Henry Wakefield was part of the 11th Texas Cavalry and his pension papers indicated that he surrendered with POWs at Augusta, Georgia in May of 1865. I think it was about 6 weeks after Appomatox. How could I find out details about the surrender to Union authorities in Augusta.
