Alan...the definition you give fits my thoughts as to the meaning of "Cashiered". However, I have found at least two instances in Confederate records that indicate the individual was "cashiered" from the unit on a date certain. A few months later the same record would indicate that pay or clothing was drawn. These individuals were Lieutenants to the best of my recollection. Their service record does not have an indication of any type of offense to explain the entry "cashiered". I could not quote the names or units at this time but the information is in my files under the individual's names.
