Civil War Authorized Medals

I have noticed several references to Medals of Honor granted to men serving in Northern Military Units. The majority of these Medals of Honor seems to have been bestowed because of the capture of the Battle Flag from a Confederate Unit. Is there a site or reference where details of the citations for other than the caputure of Battle Flags be found?

Apparantly the Medal of Honor did not have the same requirements as is expected from today's military personel for it seems to have been a fairly general occurence for the medal to be given. Where any of the Medal of Honor which were granted in the Civil War every revoked by the United States?

Question: Where there other medals other than the Medal of Honor given to Federal soldiers? What about the Purple Hearts that was bestowed in the American Revolution for wounds suffered in battle?

Question: Did the Confederate Military have any medals authorized by the Government? If so, is there a webb site when information can be found concerning receiptents of these medals?

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
