..I forgot to add that you can see that no medals were actually awarded by the CSA Government, but by various States and cities, and organizations. I can't remember the exact quote, but read somewhere, that when Robert E. Lee was asked about awarding medals in the ANV (about the time of Sharpsburg), he responded by saying "How can I select some, when all performed so well?"...............Neal
