Yes, I've always presumed that he died a natural death as he wasn't around for the 1870 census with the rest of the family. I have since found the internet record that I referred to in my earlier note and it claimed he died in Nashville in 1864 as a Civil War soldier.Whether as of disease or battle, it didn't say. Unfortunately a couple of e-mails sent to the source of the record were not replied to so at the moment I cannot verify the record. Maybe this person has a personal record (bible record, letter, etc) that he got the data from, but apparently there is nothing that the NPS has access to. Thanks for the reply Alan.
