Re: Andrew Carson Co. C 60th Georgia

Thanks so much for the site for Gordonsville Hospital. Andrew Carson is not listed but I find it strange that he would be buried with the unknown. His son, Samuel Bailey Carson in a letter, wrote that his father was in the Civil War and it was not known he was killed until after the war when a man on horseback came to bring his father's napsack and a letter to his mother. The man said he was with him when he died.

Andrew's widow Catherine, filed for a widow's pension:
Claiment Catherine Carson
Name Andy Carson Co. C 60 Reg
Georgia Vol. Enlisted September 9, 1861
Died May 5, 1864 Wilderness
Married 1852

From Muster Roll of Co. C 60 Reg. Wounded at Wilderness, Va. May 5, 1864. Died from wounds in Gordonsville,Va. hospital in 1864.

Andrew was severely wounded at Manassas Va. August 28, 1862.
