You are right about it being a tall order, but we material culture researchers are putting a few pieces together, especially regarding depot issues. It just takes one photo with a clear history to answer or correct previous assumptions. I recently recieved a photo from another member of these forums which may prove of immense value regarding Columbus Depot jackets. So please, if you have or anyone else has photos let me know. Also, do not forget about the written word, any letters/diaries, etc., that contain references to clothing and other equipment would be most appreciated.
