Re: Georgians Buried in Virginia

Gary,

We are thinking the same!

This is the only William D. Loftin I could find, but I also found a William B. Loftin, Company I, 51st ga. Inf., but I think William D. is our man.

*MUSTER ROLL OF COMPANY F, 38th REGIMENT
GEORGIA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY
EVANS' BRIGADE, GORDON'S DIVISION
WRIGHT'S LEGION
ARMY OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA
C. S. A.
ELBERT & HART COUNTIES, GEORGIA
THORNTON LINE VOLUNTEERS

Loftin, William D. (or Lofton) - private September 9, 1862. Roll dated November 6, 1864, last on file, shows him present. No later record.

William B. Loftin (First_Last)
Regiment Name 51 Ga. Inf.
Side Confederate
Company I
Soldier's Rank_In Pvt.
Soldier's Rank_Out
Alternate Name
Notes
Film Number M266 roll 37

Here is the info. from the Soldiers and Sailors System for McGowan but checking The Roster of the Confederate Soldiers of Georgia I find no record in the company K roster. This is only my best guess.

J. McGowan (First_Last)
Regiment Name 10 Georgia Infantry
Side Confederate
Company K
Soldier's Rank_In Private
Soldier's Rank_Out Private
Alternate Name John/McGowen
Notes
Film Number M226 roll 40

Thanks Gary!
