I am trying to find a web site (or any other place) to find info on the 3rd Georgia Reserves...Where they were from in Georgia and more info on Eli J. Gardner, Private in that unit.
I have an Eli J Gardner in my family who was born in Aug 1847 and died in Oct 1862 (I suspect that the birth date may be off by a few years). I have no family history of him being in the Civil War, but with a death date of 1862, it is entirely possible. Before sending $ to the Arcives for the military record of the one listed in this unit, I would like to be able to get a a little more assurance that these are the same young man.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
