Thanks for your reply. We have the military records for both William Jasper Herring and James Freeman Paul. The military records say 28th Battalion, Siege Artillery with Capt. Macarthy's company Mercer Artillery for both men and then both pension applications claim 22nd Battalion, Company E. These men both joined at Albany, Georgia the same day and were brothers in law-so the military records do reflect the men we are searching but we cannot understand why both Pension Applications say a different Battalion.
