Brian, I had two gg grandfathers in the 50th, one in company G and the other in company D. I have been researching the regiment for some time. My records show that David Bass was killed at Fox's Gap on 9/14/62, and Archibald Bass was also wounded. He was later captured at Strasburg (Cedar Creek) on 10/19/64 and released on 3/17/65.

I have found that nothing should be accepted without an attempt at verification. Even then, there will be conflicts in information and difficulty in verifying accuracy.
