Iron Works Batt'n - Whiteside's Naval

This was published in an old newspaper (The Enquirer Sun) and I'd like to know more about this. I've not had any experience with a Naval Batt'n -- I assume on the Chattahoochee River between Muscogee County, GA and Russell Co AL.

WHO WILL FURNISH MISSING NAMES ON MUSTER ROLLS IRON WORKS BATTALION?

As a matter of interest to the survivors of the battalion
still living and the families of all the members. The
Enquirer Sun republishes this morning the muster roll of the
Confederate States Iron Works Battallion, one of the many
military organizations formed in Columbus during the War
between the States. Among the names at the heading of the
roll appear those of A.J. Russell, first lieutenant, A.C.S.
and adjutant and Chief Engineer, J.H. Warner commanding. The
roll follows:

Co A Officers:
Captain - Samuel J. Whiteside
Lieutenants - G.W. Haynes and L.P. Heron
Sergeants - G.A. Huckebee; D. McFarland; W.P. Lother
Corporals - J. M. Cofield; J.L. Coppage; T.L. Tinon; William McElrath.

Co B Officers:
Company B

Lieutenants - W.H. Perrine, C.J. Cronin
(The names of the seargents and corporals of Company B are
illegible in the old muster roll from which the names of the
three companies are copied. Can't some member of Company 'B'
furnish the missing names.)

Company C
